A person who wants to become a precision driver learns how to control the vehicle when it is “out of control”. An acrobat learns how to remain balanced on unstable and unsure footing. The same goes for a Self-Defense specialist. We learn how to handle the worst possible situations so everything that comes before that is easy to handle.

Self-Defense doesn’t just start at the point or time of an attack. It is everything that you do or happens around you prior to that attack as well. Self-Defense is so much more than learning how to throw your hands and feet around hoping to hit something hard enough to afford you the chance to get away.

It is knowing what is happening in the environment around you within thirty (30) feet of you at all times. It is the way you deal with people you come into contact with. It is the way you hold yourself.

It is learning strategic ways of avoiding a potential attacker.

If avoidance is impossible, then Self-Defense is learning ways of negotiation to prevent the situation from escalating to the point where you get attacked. If negotiation fails or is impossible, it is using the knowledge of your environment to put something between you and the potential attacker.

This could be anything; a box, a large trash bin, a car or a building. Only after we cannot escape the threat do we decide that we need to do something physically to prevent the attacker from hurting us and make a chance for us to get away from the conflict.

This is why we train. We train to be able to distinguish between the type of attacker we are dealing with; emotional or planned. We train to remain calm and relaxed in stressful situations so we can think clearly and move decisively when we need to.

Here are a few benefits of training in the offered Self-Defense courses:

  • Grace under pressure
  • Physical stability and balance as physical pressure is applied to you
  • Thinking on your feet
  • Ability to use both sides of your body equally in the effort to protect yourself
  • Conflict strategy and tactics
  • Straight-forward thinking and troubleshooting
  • Basic understanding of applied physics, biology, physiology, Newtonian mechanics, bio-mechanic, psychology and some philosophy.

Every bit of the training can be used in normal life as well as during a conflict situation. By incorporating the lessons into your daily life, you learn ways to avoid ever having to use the physical Self-Defense because you have already diffused or prevented the situation where you would need it in the first place.

That is our goal. We learn to handle the worst situations in case they show up, but we also train to prevent those situations from ever occurring. It is truly and empowering feeling.

Here is what you will learn in our Self-Defense training:

How to handle incoming attacks from all angles -

Attackers are not going to wait until you are facing them and ready. They will take every opportunity to take your off-guard and maximize the success of getting what they want. We show you how to minimize their effectiveness no matter where the attack comes from.

How to manage multiple attackers -

There is strength in numbers and the average attacker knows this too. Learning how to track and manage multiple attackers is another part of the training.

Strategic movement in a conflict situation -

A person cannot hit, kick or grab you if you are not there for the attack to connect. We teach you how to move your whole body so that you maximize your safety while minimizing an attacker’s ability to control you.

Management of armed attackers -

We train to be able to handle attackers armed with the most common modern weapons, when to apply our skills and when to avoid trying something that will get us hurt or killed. You learn to use the right strategies at the right times and distances.

Distance Management -

An attacker can only be effective if they are in the correct distance. If you are too close or too far away, they lose the capability to harm you. We teach you how to manage those distances and become effective no matter where you are.

Economy of Motion -

You would not be able to keep anyone safe if you tire out in the middle of an attack or if there are multiple attackers. We teach you how to handle an attacker quickly and efficiently with little energy used on your part.

Threat Assessment and Management -

The best way to keep yourself safe is to recognize when and where an attack would occur and avoid being in that situation in the first place. It’s basically learning how not to be a target no matter where you are or what you are doing. We will show you how.

These are just a few of our training elements. In our classes, you will learn this and a lot more. Come by and talk to our instructors for more details.
